In the present study, the influence of subchronic effects of two plant growth regulators (PGRs) [Abcisic acid (ABA) and Gibberellic acid (GA3)] on antioxidant defense systems [reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione reductase (GR), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and catalase (CAT)] and lipid peroxidation level (malondialdehyde = MDA) in various tissues of the rat were investigated during treatment as a drinking water model. 75 ppm of ABA and GA3 in drinking water were continuously administered orally to rats (Sprague-Dawley albino) ad libitum for 50 days.

Glutathione S-transferase pull-down assays revealed that AtPRMT4a and AtPRMT4b could form homodimers and heterodimers in vitro, and formation of the heterodimer was further confirmed by bimolecular fluorescence complementation.

Both the phosphorylated and non-phosphorylated SLR1 proteins were degraded by gibberellin treatment with a similar half-life in the rice callus cells, and both proteins interacted with recombinant glutathione S-transferase (GST)-GID2.

Two of these showed homology to storage proteins (pPCB3 and pPCB4) and one each to the late-embryogenesis-abundant (LEA) group 2 dehydrin proteins (pPCB2), a barely glucose dehydrogenase (pPCB6) and the glutathione S-transferase (GST) superfamily (pPCB7).

The study was aimed at demonstrating changes in the antioxidant defense systems [Reduced glutathione (GSH), glutathione reductase (GR), superoxide dismutase (SOD), glutathione-S-transferase (GST) and catalase (CAT)] forming an antioxidative barrier and oxidative stress parameter (Malondialdehyde=MDA) in the various tissues of Sprague-Dawley rats which were administrated plant growth regulators (PGRs) [Abcisic acid (ABA) and Gibberellic acid (GA (3))] during 25 days.
