8018775 | Guliaeva LF, Grishanova AIu, Liakhovich VV: [Induction of cytochromes P-4501A and 2B in various rat organs, subjected to hexachlorobenzene and aroclor 1254]. Biokhimiia. 1994 Apr;59(4):531-6. The activity and content of CYP1A1, CYP1A2, CYP2B1 and CYP2B in the liver, lung and kidney of Wistar rats treated with hexachlorobenzene (HCB), Aroclor 1254 (AR), methylcholanthrene (MC) and phenobarbital (PB) were studied. |

9439724 | Franklin MR, Phillips JD, Kushner JP: Cytochrome P450 induction, uroporphyrinogen decarboxylase depression, accumulation and excretion, and gender influence in a 3-week rat model of porphyria cutanea tarda. Toxicol Appl Pharmacol. 1997 Dec;147(2):289-99. Aroclor 1254 induced CYP1A to a greater extent in females than in males and to a greater extent than hexachlorobenzene, which showed a greater propensity to induce CYP2B. |

12297372 | Ruus A, Sandvik M, Ugland KI, Skaare JU: Factors influencing activities of biotransformation enzymes, concentrations and compositional patterns of organochlorine contaminants in members of a marine food web. Aquat Toxicol. 2002 Nov 13;61(1-2):73-87. The accumulation of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs; 34 congeners), sigmaDDT (p,p'-DDT, o,p'-DDT, p,p'-DDD, o,p'-DDD and p,p'-DDE), chlordanes (sigmaCHL; trans-chlordane, cis-chlordane, trans-nonachlor, cis-nonachlor and oxychlordane), hexachlorocyclohexanes (sigmaHCH; alpha-, beta- and gamma-isomers), hexachlorobenzene (HCB) and mirex was investigated in members of a marine food web from the Hvaler and Torbjornskaer archipelago, south-eastern Norway. High correlations between EROD and PROD activities were found in all species, suggesting a single, common catalyst, CYP1A, and render the PROD assay questionable as biomarker for CYP2B inducers in marine wildlife. |

Toxicol Appl Pharmacol. 2000 Jan 1;162(1):60-7. In this study we have used these mice to investigate whether CYP1A2 has an obligatory role in hepatic uroporphyria caused by hexachlorobenzene (HCBZ), an inducer of CYP2B and CYP3A, as well as CYP1A2. |
