19874837 | Tekpli X, Rivedal E, Gorria M, Landvik NE, Rissel M, Dimanche-Boitrel MT, Baffet G, Holme JA, Lagadic-Gossmann D: The B [a] P-increased intercellular communication via translocation of connexin-43 into gap junctions reduces apoptosis. Toxicol Appl Pharmacol. 2010 Jan 15;242(2):231-40. Epub 2009 Oct 27. Interestingly, inhibition of GJIC by chlordane or small interference RNA directed against Cx43 enhanced B [a] P-induced apoptosis in Hepa1c1c7 cells. |

15935824 | Rivedal E, Witz G: metabolites block gap junction intercellular communication. Chem Biol Interact. 2005 May 30;153-154:257-60. Epub 2005 Apr 11. A metabolite of trans,trans-muconaldehyde (MUC) was found to be a strong inhibitor of gap junction intercellular communication (GJIC) with potency similar to that of chlordane. The effect of MUC on GJIC took place in parallel with a strong cellular loss of connexin 43. |

15690152 | Rivedal E, Witz G: Metabolites of are potent inhibitors of gap-junction intercellular communication. Arch Toxicol. 2005 Jun;79(6):303-11. Epub 2005 Feb 3. The effect of MUC on GJIC was observed to take place concordant with a dramatic loss of connexin 43 (Cx43) from the cells as visualized by Western blotting. MUC was found to be a strong inhibitor of GJIC (EC50=12 micromol L (-1)) in rat liver epithelial cells IAR20, with potency similar to that of chlordane (EC50=7 micromol L (-1)). |
