7546342 | Radhakrishnaiah K, Sivaramakrishna B, Suresh A, Chamundeswari P: Pesticidal impact on the protein metabolism of freshwater field crab, Oziotelphusa senex senex (Fabricius). Biomed Environ Sci. 1995 Jun;8(2):137-48. The total protein increased in the gills and decreased in the muscle of the freshwater field crab Oziotelphusa senex senex at days 1 and 2 on exposure to lethal concentrations and at days 1 and 10 to sublethal concentrations of furadan, endosulfan, chlorpyrifos, and a mixture of these three in a 100:10:1 ratio. Irrespective of the changes in the total protein, the levels of free amino acids and the activities of protease, and aspartate aminotransferases, and dehydrogenase increased in all the three organs of the crabs exposed to the lethal and sublethal concentrations, (more in lethal than in sublethal) and increased at a greater rate over time of exposure. |

Hum Exp Toxicol. 1999 Jan;18(1):33-7. Laboratory mice were exposed to a formulated mixture of the six organophosphorus pesticides (Dimethoate, Chlorpyrifos, Profenofos, Pirimiphos methyl, Triazophos and Dimethoate) most commonly used in agriculture in this region of the Middle East. Serum concentrations of alanine aminotransferase and aspartate aminotransferase, glutamic acid, serine, and were significantly increased in the exposed mice, while serum levels of were decreased significantly. |

17387711 | Cui F, Tan Y, Qiao CL: Filariasis vector in China: insecticide resistance and population structure of mosquito Culex pipiens complex. Pest Manag Sci. 2007 May;63(5):453-8. The resistance status of larvae to dichlorvos, parathion, chlorpyrifos, fenobucarb (BPMC) and propoxur were determined by bioassays, disclosing that they were more resistant to organophosphate (moderate or low resistance) than to (low or no significant resistance) insecticides. Electrophoretic polymorphism at four putatively neutral loci (got-1, got-2, pgi and pgm) showed that the overall genetic differentiation found across all populations was significantly large (Fst = 0.28, P < 10 (-4)), and genetic exchange was slightly restricted by distance isolation (P = 0.018). |

Similarly, a significant increase in the levels of various serum and liver marker enzymes (viz. alkaline phosphatase, aspartate aminotransferase [AST], and alanine aminotransferase [ALT]) was observed following treatment with chlorpyrifos. |
