CONCLUSIONS: Anti-tumor effects of shikonin in Tca-8113 cells act at least partially through the inactivation of NF-kappaB pathway and subsequent activation of protease caspase family.

Phytother Res. 2008 Mar;22(3):407-15.

These results raise the possibility that the anti-tumor effects of Shikonin in Tca-8113 cells are at least partly through the inactivation of the NF-kappaB pathway and subsequent activation of protease caspase family.

In the tumor-derived cells, zoledronic acid showed concentration-dependent inhibition with a median IC50 for all tumors tested of 17 muM and evidence of apoptosis (caspase activation).
