The adsorption constant related soil organic carbon content (Koc) calculated from Freundlich equation were 314 for acetochlor, 133 for atrazine, 2805 for carbendazim, 1589 for diazinon, 210 for imidacloprid and 174 for isoproturon.

Koc values were as expected nearly identical for each herbicide in the two soils.

Leaching studies were performed using isoproturon, dimethoate, and mecoprop-P, which were applied at simulated disposal rates to 1.5 m deep biobeds.
Annual average concentrations were similar for each soil type with leaching losses of even the most mobile (Koc = 12-25) pesticide <1.64% of the applied dose.

We present a set of adsorption coefficients measured on various Eocene and Quaternary materials sampled from the vadose zone of a catchment in Northern France for three herbicides, atrazine, isoproturon and metamitron.
Neglecting the adsorption properties of the vadose zone and relying exclusively on Koc values to predict mobility may bias regional or local risk assessment of groundwater contamination by pesticides.
