Andrews PL, Kovacs M, Watson JW: The anti-emetic action of the neurokinin (1) receptor antagonist CP-99,994 does not require the presence of the area postrema in the dog. Neurosci Lett. 2001 Nov 13;314(1-2):102-4.
Microinjection and ligand binding studies have implicated NK (1) receptors in the area postrema (AP) in the emetic response to intragastric copper sulphate that is mediated by abdominal vagal afferents. |

Saito R, Suehiro Y, Ariumi H, Migita K, Hori N, Hashiguchi T, Sakai M, Saeki M, Takano Y, Kamiya H: Anti-emetic effects of a novel NK-1 receptor antagonist HSP-117 in ferrets. Neurosci Lett. 1998 Oct 2;254(3):169-72.
These results indicate that (1) HSP-117 is a potent anti-emetic agent, blocking NK-1 receptors in the nucleus tractus solitarius and (2) NK-1 receptors in the nucleus tractus solitarius play an important role in emesis induced by broad-spectrum emetic stimuli. |
