15619605 | Gravel SP, Servant MJ: Roles of an IkappaB kinase-related pathway in human cytomegalovirus-infected vascular smooth muscle cells: a molecular link in pathogen-induced proatherosclerotic conditions. J Biol Chem. 2005 Mar 4;280(9):7477-86. Epub 2004 Dec 24. The transcripts of proatherosclerotic genes Ccl5 (encoding for the chemokine RANTES (regulated upon activation, normal T cell expressed and secreted)) and Cxcl10 (encoding for the chemokine IP-10 (interferon-gamma-inducible protein 10)) were induced in an IRF-3-dependent manner after HCMV infection of smooth muscle cells. |

Mol Immunol. 2009 Oct;46(16):3310-9. Epub 2009 Aug 21. Interestingly, IL-8 mRNA was induced by cycloheximide treatment and RANTES showed reduced mRNA but increased protein expression by antibody stimulation. |

Epub 2008 Feb 5. Similarly, pretreatment with cycloheximide prevented CCL5 or CXCR4 mRNA expression, consistent with the observation that DAMGO induction of chemokine and chemokine receptor expression requires newly synthesized TGF-beta1 protein. |

Epub 2008 Mar 12. Cycloheximide, but not actinomycin D, significantly reduced chemotaxis, suggesting a possible role for mRNA translation in T-cell migration. |

Oral Microbiol Immunol. 2005 Feb;20(1):47-50. We also addressed the possibility of enhanced expression of COX-2, RANTES and galectin-9 in fibroblasts overexpressed RIG-I. The effect of cycloheximide, a protein synthesis inhibitor, on the IL-1beta-induced expression of RIG-I was examined. |

19447459 | Mikulak J, Gianolini M, Versmisse P, Pancino G, Lusso P, Verani A: Biological and physical characterization of the X4 HIV-1 suppressive factor secreted by LPS-stimulated human macrophages. Virology. 2009 Jul 20;390(1):37-44. Epub 2009 May 17. These inhibitory factors include the CCR5 ligands RANTES, MIP-1alpha and MIP-1beta, which selectively block R5 HIV-1 strains, and a still unidentified factor with activity against X4 HIV-1 strains that we designate soluble macrophage-derived anti-HIV factor (MDAF). MDAF is sensitive to heat and proteinase K treatment, and it appears to be preformed within MDM, in that it is rapidly released upon LPS stimulation and its production is insensitive to cycloheximide, an inhibitor of protein neosynthesis. |
