18809323 | Mondala A, Liang K, Toghiani H, Hernandez R, French T: Biodiesel production by in situ transesterification of municipal primary and secondary sludges. Bioresour Technol. 2009 Feb;100(3):1203-10. Epub 2008 Sep 21. Experiments were conducted to determine the effects of temperature, sulfuric acid concentration, and mass ratio of to sludge on the yield of fatty acid methyl esters (FAMEs). Results indicated a significant interactive effect between temperature, acid concentration, and to sludge mass ratio on the FAME yield for the insitu transesterification of primary sludge, while the FAME yield for secondary sludge was significantly affected by the independent effects of the three factors investigated. |

16242375 | Stavarache C, Vinatoru M, Maeda Y: Ultrasonic versus silent methylation of vegetable oils. Ultrason Sonochem. 2006 Jul;13(5):401-7. Epub 2005 Oct 19. The profile of fatty acid methyl esters (FAME) of different vegetable oils produced under ultrasonic irradiation and conventional heating were compared. The FAME profile resulted from the reaction catalyzed by sulfuric acid was almost the same with the one resulted from the reaction catalyzed by KOH, while trifluoride can give rise to many artifacts, thus is not a reliable catalyst. |
