18324412 | Halaly T, Pang X, Batikoff T, Crane O, Keren A, Venkateswari J, Ogrodovitch A, Sadka A, Lavee S, Or E: Similar mechanisms might be triggered by alternative external stimuli that induce dormancy release in grape buds. Planta. 2008 Jun;228(1):79-88. Epub 2008 Mar 7. To test the hypothesis that temporary oxidative stress is part of the mechanism inducing dormancy release, we analyzed the effect of HS and HC treatments on the expression of peroxidase, glutathione reductase, thioredoxin h, glutathione S-transferase and synthase genes and found that they were induced by both treatments in a similar pattern. We compared the effects of heat shock (HS) and cyanamide (HC) and demonstrated that HS leads to earlier and higher bud-break levels. |

Eur J Pharmacol. 2009 Sep 1;617(1-3):97-101. Epub 2009 Jul 2. The inhibitor of GST (ethacrynic acid) or ALDH-2 (cyanamide) was given before nitroglycerin treatment; In vitro, the isolated aorta rings were incubated with nitroglycerin to obtain the concentration-response curve. |

Epub 2006 Mar 15. Lipid peroxidation (LPO), assessed by the thiobarbituric acid assay, increased to 221% of control by and was potentiated by cyanamide, an aldehyde dehydrogenase inhibitor. |

Arch Biochem Biophys. 1995 Jan 10;316(1):197-205. The presence of 4-methylpyrazole or cyanamide abolished formation of the reductive metabolite 1,4-dihydroxy-2-nonene or the oxidative metabolite 4- -2-nonenoic acid in hepatocyte suspensions. |

J Exp Bot. 2009;60(13):3835-48. Epub 2009 Aug 3. One group of genes that was rapidly up-regulated in response to HC was the glutathione S-transferase (GST) class of genes, which have been associated with stress and signalling. |
