NMDA receptor (protein family or complex)

General Information (Source: NCBI Gene,UniProt)

Text mining Term NMDA receptor (protein family or complex)
UniProt ID NMDA1_DROME
Name DNMDAR-I
dNR1
Glutamate [NMDA] receptor subunit 1
Gene Names Nmdar1
Taxonomy Drosophila melanogaster

General annotation

Function NMDA receptor subtype of glutamate-gated ion channels with high calcium permeability and voltage-dependent sensitivity to magnesium. Mediated by glycine. This protein plays a key role in synaptic plasticity, synaptogenesis, excitotoxicity, memory acquisition and learning. It mediates neuronal functions in glutamate neurotransmission. Is involved in the cell surface targeting of NMDA receptors. Plays a role in associative learning and in long-term memory consolidation.
Subcellular location Cell membrane; Multi-pass membrane protein. Cell junction, synapse, postsynaptic cell membrane. Cell junction, synapse, postsynaptic cell membrane, postsynaptic density.
