Following in vitro exposure to 10 (-3) to 10 (-5) M OP compounds, Ca-stimulated ATPase activity was inhibited by chlorpyrifos, chlorpyrifos-oxon, phenyl saligenin phosphate (PSP), and tri-o-tolyl phosphate (TOTP), but not by parathion, paraoxon, or diisopropyl fluorophosphate (DFP).

Present work is designed to study the in vitro effects of some organophosphates (ethion, chlorpyrifos, dimethoate and monocrotophos) on rat erythrocytes.
Membrane bound enzymes like acetylcholinesterase (AChE), Na (+)-K (+)-ATPase and Ca (2+)-ATPase were also inhibited.

To correlate the binding of chlorpyrifos oxon to P-gp with a biochemical effect, we examined its ability to stimulate P-gp-mediated ATPase activity in these Sf9 cells.
