Protein adsorption experiments using radiolabeled myoglobin, concanavalin A, albumin, fibrinogen and ferritin as single proteins in buffer showed that adsorption was reduced on the PEO-grafted surfaces by up to 95% compared to the control.

15887658 Chen H, Brook MA, Chen Y, Sheardown H: Surface properties of PEO-silicone composites: reducing protein adsorption. J Biomater Sci Polym Ed. 2005;16(4):531-48.

Silicone-based polymers with reduced protein adsorption were successfully prepared by incorporating mono- or bifunctional poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) derivatives, respectively, into PDMS during rubber formation using classic room temperature vulcanization chemistry.
Significant reductions in the adsorption of fibrinogen, albumin and lysozyme were observed on both PEO-modified surfaces, although the monofunctional PEO surfaces performed much better in this regard.

We synthesized a symmetric linear ABCBA pentablock copolymer consisting of poly (ethylene oxide), poly (gamma-benzyl l-glutamate), and a poly (perfluoro ether) (fluorolink).
This work is a contribution to the development of multicompartment micelles devoted to mimic transport proteins such as serum albumins in long-term development.

Fibrinogen and albumin adsorption were utilized as indices for the assessment of the blood compatibility.
The combination of other hydrophilic polymers such as poly (ethylene oxide) (PEO) and PEO/poly (propylene oxide) (PPO) copolymers, such as Pluronic F68 (F68), with CDs were also investigated.

Similarly, chitosan-coated surfaces exhibited significantly greater (P < 0.001) albumin adsorption, fibronectin adsorption and cell attachment, as compared to the control Ti surfaces.
Samples were sterilized by ethylene oxide gas prior to experiments.

J Biomater Sci Polym Ed. 2003;14(6):515-31.

Novel carboxylic acid pendant-containing poly (ethylene glycol) (PEG) derivatives (PEG-Cs) were synthesized by the chemical modification of the carbon-carbon double-bond side chain of copoly (allyl glycidyl ether/ethylene oxide) (copoly (AGE/EO)).
PEG-C showed a protecting ability for the DNA/polycation complex from the albumin-induced aggregation.

The adsorption and elution of the antimicrobial peptide nisin at hydrophobic, silanized silica surfaces coated with the poly (ethylene oxide)-poly (propylene oxide)-poly (ethylene oxide) surfactant Pluronic F108 were measured in situ, with ellipsometry.
While F108-coated layers rejected adsorption of serum albumin, sequential adsorption experiments carried out with nisin and albumin showed a low level of albumin adsorption when nisin was present at the interface.
