9882708 | Ushio-Fukai M, Alexander RW, Akers M, Lyons PR, Lassegue B, Griendling KK: Angiotensin II receptor coupling to phospholipase D is mediated by the betagamma subunits of heterotrimeric G proteins in vascular smooth muscle cells. Mol Pharmacol. 1999 Jan;55(1):142-9. Here we examine the role of heterotrimeric G proteins in AT1 receptor-PLD coupling. In intact cells, Ang II activation of PLD was pertussis toxin-insensitive and was not additive with sodium fluoride, a cell-permeant activator of heterotrimeric G proteins, indicating that AT1 receptor-PLD coupling requires pertussis toxin-insensitive heterotrimeric G proteins. |

15106810 | Hashim S, Anand-Srivastava MB: Losartan-induced attenuation of blood pressure in L-NAME hypertensive rats is associated with reversal of the enhanced expression of Gi alpha proteins. J Hypertens. 2004 Jan;22(1):181-90. In addition, the stimulatory effects of 5'-gamma-thiotriphosphate (GTPgammaS), isoproterenol, 5'-N-ethylcarboxamideadenosine (NECA), glucagon, forskolin (FSK) and sodium fluoride (NaF) on adenylyl cyclase, which were diminished in L-NAME-treated rats, were reversed by losartan treatment. Since, losartan, an AT1 receptor antagonist, has been shown to attenuate the L-NAME-induced increase in blood pressure, we undertook the present studies to evaluate whether losartan-induced decreased blood pressure in this model of hypertension is associated with attenuation of enhanced expression of Gi proteins and adenylyl cyclase signalling. |

Am J Physiol Renal Physiol. 2009 Jan;296(1):F127-34. Epub 2008 Oct 29. AT1 receptor blockade attenuated V2R, pS256-AQP2, and G (s) alpha protein downregulation in IM and partially reversed the obstruction-induced inhibition of sodium fluoride- and forskolin-stimulated cAMP generation in inner medullary membrane fractions from BUO rats. |

16269967 | Lappas G, Daou GB, Anand-Srivastava MB: Oxidative stress contributes to the enhanced expression of Gialpha proteins and adenylyl cyclase signaling in vascular smooth muscle cells from spontaneously hypertensive rats. J Hypertens. 2005 Dec;23(12):2251-61. Similarly, diminished stimulation of adenylyl cyclase by GTPgammaS, isoproterenol and sodium fluoride in SHR was also restored towards control WKY rat levels by NAC and DPI treatments. The levels of (O2-) were also increased in SHR as compared with WKY rats, and losartan, an AT1 receptor antagonist, restored the enhanced levels to control WKY rat levels. |
