Oakley BR: Conditionally lethal tubulin mutations of Aspergillus nidulans. J Submicrosc Cytol. 1983 Jan;15(1):363-6. Conditionally lethal tubulin mutants are becoming an important tool for studying microtubule structure and function. In the filamentous fungus Aspergillus nidulans it has been possible to isolate heat-sensitive beta-tubulin mutations by isolating mutants resistant to the anti-microtubule agent benomyl and screening these mutants for heat sensitivity. It has also been possible to isolate alpha-tubulin mutations, new beta-tubulin mutations and mutations in other genes whose products are likely to interact with beta tubulin as revertants of heat-sensitive beta-tubulin mutations. |
