The effect of the presence and absence of the chloroalkanes, dichloromethane (CH (2) Cl (2)), chloroform (CHCl (3)) and carbon tetrachloride (CCl (4)) on the extent of oxidation of aqueous I (-) to I (3)(-) has been investigated in (a) a liquid whistle reactor (LWR) generating hydrodynamic cavitation and (b) an ultrasonic probe, which produces acoustic cavitation.

The CrO (3) Cl (-) is converted during irradiation to CrO (2) Cl (2), which forms a suspension in the chloroform, and then to CrOCl (4)(-).

Further magnetic manipulation can be carried out on these materials through reversibly resolvating the partially desolvated material with chloroform to produce the original one-step SCO, or with dichloromethane to produce a two-step SCO reminiscent of that seen for 1 x 4 CH (2) Cl (2).

18493097 Franska M: Detection of binuclear copper-caffeine complexes under electrospray ionization condition. Eur J Mass Spectrom (Chichester

The electrospray ionization (ESI) mass spectra of methanol solution containing caffeine and CuCl (2) or CuSO (4) show signals of two copper atom containing ions, so the signals correspond to binuclear complexes: [2Caf + Cu (2) SO (4)](+), [2Caf + Cu (2)](+), [2Caf + Cu (2) Cl](+), [2Caf + Cu (2) Cl (2)](+) and [2Caf + Cu (2) Cl (3)](+).
The ion [2Caf + Cu (2) Cl (3)](+) is present in solution and could be detected when using methanol/chloroform as solvent.

A significant correlation (R (2)> 0.9) between the concentrations of chloral hydrate and chloroform has been observed.
Formation of CH is correlated with the dose of Cl (2) and the contact time.

The chlorination of [PtCl 2 (BHA)] ( 7) in freshly distilled dry chloroform leads to the selective oxidation of one N (H) OH group yielding [PtCl 2{HO (H) NCMe 2CMe 2 N=O}] ( 13), while the chlorination in water produces the complex [PtCl 2 (O= NCMe 2CMe 2 N=O)] ( 14) bearing the unexplored dinitrosoalkane species.
The Pt (II) complexes with hydroxylamino ( intersection) oximes [PtCl 2{HO (H) NC (Me) 2C (R)= NOH}] (R = Me 8; R = Ph 9) upon their oxidation with Cl 2 in CHCl 3 afford the nitrosoalkane derivatives [PtCl 2{O= NCMe 2C (R)= NOH}] (R = Me 16; Ph 17), respectively, while the corresponding chlorination of the bis-chelates [Pt{HO (H) NCMe 2C (R)= NOH} 2] (R = Me 10; Ph 11) gives [Pt{O= NCMe 2C (R)= NO} 2] (R = Me 18; Ph 19).

The experiments were conducted under two conditions: baseline conditions (pH 7, 21 degrees C, 2.5 mg/L Cl (2)) to gain information about the change of the organic matter in the raw water and seasonally variable conditions to simulate the actual process at the treatment plant and the distribution system.
BACKGROUND, AIM AND SCOPE: After the discovery of chloroform in drinking water, an extensive amount of work has been dedicated to the factors influencing the formation of halogenated disinfections by-products (DBPs).

The reaction of NP (3) (tris [2-(diphenylphosphino) ethyl] amine and PP (3) (tris [2-(diphenylphosphino) ethyl] phosphine) with the five-coordinate complexes [PdCl (NP (3))] Cl (1) and [MX (PP (3))] X [M = Pd: X = Cl (2), Br (3), I (4); M = Pt: X = Cl (5), Br (6), I (7)], respectively, followed by (31) P{(1) H}NMR when X = Cl, led to the formation of unprecedented four-coordinate halides in a 1 : 2 metal to ligand ratio, [M (AP (3))(2)] X (2) [A = N, M = Pd: X = Cl (8); A = P, M = Pd: X = Cl (9), Br (10), I (11); A = P, M = Pt: X = Cl (12), Br (13), I (14)], containing reactive dangling phosphorus.
Colourless single crystals of 18 and 10, studied by X-ray diffraction, were afforded by reaction of 16 with 4 equivalents of PP (3) and from solutions of 10 in chloroform coexisting with red crystals of 3, respectively.
