Eur J Neurosci. 1999 Oct;11(10):3481-7. The electrophysiological data were obtained during rhythmic bursting produced by application of and strychnine to the isolated spinal cord at various postnatal ages. The immunohistochemical evidence demonstrates a dramatic change in the cellular profile of both the alpha1C and alpha1D subunits of L-type channels during postnatal development; the labelling of both subunits increases with age, approximating the adult pattern by P18. |

Spontaneous glycinergic IPSCs were very rare but direct presynaptic depolarization by superfusion with elevated concentration or application of 4-aminopyridine consistently evoked strychnine sensitive IPSCs. Immuno-histochemical investigations using a specific marker for glycinergic fibers and terminals showed low density of immuno-fluorescent puncta, putative glycinergic boutons surrounding P18-P23 DCNs, in agreement with the rare spontaneous synaptic activity. |
